Info
India has 149 million elderly people. Most mobility apps treat their travel as a transaction. Margam treats it as what it actually is: a temple visit, a doctor's appointment, a chance to see a friend. The project began with a 24-question survey across seniors aged 73 to 80 and their caregivers, Six Thinking Hats research across data, risk, and opportunity, and a competitive audit of four direct platforms. The finding that anchored everything: 47.1% of seniors find apps too difficult to use, and many have simply stopped going out because transport feels unsafe or too complicated.Every pain point was mapped directly to a feature before a single screen was designed. Large tap targets for Fitts' Law. Three ride choices for Hick's Law. Preset destinations, live tracking, an SOS button, and a caregiver view for the adult child monitoring from a distance. The visual language: navy for trust, generous spacing, high contrast type. The app had to feel like a person, not a platform.
