Glowing Ember

Glowing Ember was built from a single reference point: the Chinese dragon. The letterforms took their cues from the creature's visual language - the scale texture, the sinuous weight shifts, the sense of something ancient and kinetic held in a single form. Each character was first worked out by hand on graph sheets, then hand-painted to test weight, rhythm, and presence before anything went to vector.Once the type system was resolved, it was put to work on a hypothetical PS5 game cover; the most demanding test for a display typeface. At that scale, every design decision either holds or falls apart. Glowing Ember held.
